Wadebridge ASC Club
information
Currently we have
around 105 members of all ages. The club is funded by subscriptions, augmented by some fund-raising activity,
and is run entirely by volunteers. A proportion of these fees goes
directly to the Western Counties Amateur Swimming Association (WCASA). The Club is
divided into Squads, with new members usually
joining the Development Squad, progressing on from the organised swimming
lessons at the leisure centre. As swimmers progress they move
up through the Squad system, hopefully right up to Senior Squad. Throughout the
year there are various additional activities aimed at certain squads.
Club Aims
The aim of
Wadebridge Amateur Swimming Club is to improve the
swimming of all our members and encourage them to set and work towards
'personal best' (PB) goals. Although most swimmers participate in
competitive swimming at appropriate levels, some swimmers choose to follow
a recreational training programme, taking part only in club events.
We hope all our members will develop a positive sporting attitude, a
life-long interest in swimming, personal fitness and health, and that
being a member of the club will also help them develop some general life
skills, such as social interaction, personal discipline, commitment etc.
